Johnny Wills September 28, 2012HP’s Palm and TouchPad phones are long gone, but HP is keeping WebOS alive in the open-source community. While Hewlett-Packard only managed to run Open WebOS 1.0 on a computer, the independent Ports Team has the OS up on Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Following a beta release back in August, Hewlett-Packard has released the first version of Open WebOS today.
HP announced on its Open WebOS Project blog the release of next phase of its mobile operating system that is ready to get ported on smartphones, tablets and PCs. HP writes in the post that more than 75 Open WebOS components were delivered in the past nine months, allowing developers to port the OS to new devices.
HP’s Chief Architect Steve Winston demonstrated the operating system on an HP TouchSmart AiO (All-in-One) PC in a video.
Meanwhile, folks at the independent WebOS Ports Team has it running on a Galaxy Nexus Android smartphone.
